Going out. It’s important. The very reason why Skiddle was founded was to unite people that love events. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that going out gives us normality, a chance to let go and connect with our community. But is it more than that?

For what seems like an eternity there's been a constant in our lives come the end of the British Summer - Creamfields. The Bank Holiday festival has always been the cornerstone of every dance music fan's calender and the success of the gathering continues to gather apace - it's currently on target to sell out for the sixth consecutive year. 2013 has seen the announcement of some pretty spectacular news surrounding the new production put into the main stage, so in honor of that we decided to get a mix form a DJ who understand the full force of the intensity Creamfields represents - Steve Aoki.

#43 - The Head Gardener (Secret Garden Party)

We’ve been big fans of the Secret Garden Party here at Skiddle HQ for a few years now, the soiree rightfully attaining the status as one of the most loved boutique festivals in the UK. The attention to detail to the entire experience remains unrivalled and in terms of charm, they don’t come much better than SGP.
Although it’s a festival that’s well-endowed in the headliners department (2ManyDJs, Mistajam and David Rodigan number in this year's DJs) the family feel of their residents has been one of the key components of their musical make-up, headed up by The Head Gardener. So when we announced we’d be selling tickets for the gathering recently, we knew we had to spotlight his mix on our podcast series.
The podcast also throws some love to five other big events coming up over the next fortnight, with Leeds tyros mono_cult heading to London, Barcelona clubFACT doing the same, the Brazilica Festival afterparty in Liverpool, Australian bass fiend FLUME hitting Gorilla in Manchester and the monolithic Size in the Parkup in Scotland.

#42 - LWE with Dan Drastic

We’re onto the forty second edition of our Weekends Matter podcast, and the love this time round falls onto one of our favoured London promoters, LWE. They are celebrating their third birthday on Saturday with a Moon Harbour showcase that features Azari and III, Mirko Loko, Matthias Tanzmann, Italoboyz and many more,
The mix here is helmed by Deutsch don Dan Drastic, curating a connoisseur’s selection of upfront house which offers a snapshot into what to expect this weekend at the event. Since first recording for Moon Harbour in 2008, Dan has gone onto curate their monthly radio shows, alternating with Luna City Express, and as such as become a consistent influence within the label and their output.
Alongside Dan’s mix the podcast also peaks into some of our picks for this weekend as well, Back to Basics in Leeds with James Zabiela, Jack Groove getting MK down to Coventry and Manchester’s Beatnik, as well as a look over to a couple of European festivals - Fresh Island Festival in Croatia and Serbia’s Exit Festival.
