Going out. It’s important. The very reason why Skiddle was founded was to unite people that love events. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that going out gives us normality, a chance to let go and connect with our community. But is it more than that?

S3 Ep1 - Yousef
Monday May 24, 2021
Monday May 24, 2021
We’re back. It’s series 3 and times have already changed since our last episode with the further lift in restrictions, allowing mixing indoors, indoor hospitality, and live entertainment… If you’ve been hiding under a rock (no judgement from us btw) then you might not have heard about the recent government pilot events in Liverpool, and two of these dates were organised by DJ, promoter, producer and record label owner, Yousef. This is why our first episode for series 3 of The Going Out Podcast, had to be with him.
We started the conversation by talking about Yousef’s time growing up in Crosby and his first going out experiences in the area and then into Liverpool (does ‘The G’ mean anything to you?). Our conversations led us to chat about the iconic CREAM night at Nation where Yousef shared tales from the crowd and DJ decks, and then of course, his own night; CIRCUS.
We loved this conversation for many reasons, the main one being the conversation being so uplifting and positive after a strange 18 months in the music and events scene. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Weekends Matter 56: Samuel Lamont (Cream Reunion)
Wednesday Jan 29, 2014
Wednesday Jan 29, 2014
This edition of Weekends Matter sees us looking back longingly to yesteryear. Between 1992 and 2002 Cream was, for many clubbers and DJs, the best club in the world and the legacy it holds lives long to this day. A weekly exercise in club culture at it's most far reaching, it featured the best DJs around and defined hedonism in the 90s, eventually spreading to Ibiza and the fields of the UK with the domineering festival Creamfields.
The brand itself is still one of the world's biggest, with huge Creamfields events across the planet and the club itself knocking out three barnstorming events in their Nation home every year alongside their huge Amnesia shows. The Cream Reunion was set up to celebrate that initial decade, and this podcast is helmed by Samuel Lamont, the DJ behind that event, with a stunning mix of classic pulsating trance.
Saturday 1st of February Lamont will be part of a fleet of DJs that hark back to the club's domineering era, including X-Press 2 (who we spoke to earlier in the week) and Guy Ornadel (and read our interview with him here). There's still some tickets left here for the party, and this mix is a chance to journey down memory lane for anyone who has a misty eyed memory of the club at that point.
As ever we've run down the top five regional events alongside the Cream reunion, these being as follows:
Monocult Seventh Birthday - Leeds
The Gallery resents Lange - Southampton
Gatecrasher present R3hab Third Birthday - Birmingham
Notsoslient's Dimensions festival Launch Party - Edinburgh
Elevate - London

Weekends Matter 53: Laidback Luke (Cream)
Thursday Dec 05, 2013
Thursday Dec 05, 2013
The first mix of our third year of podcast is here and what an absolute head rush it is. We've gone all Christmassy, but luckily that's raiding the best events that lurk just before and after the 25th December rather than an overload on Yuletide excess. And it also includes a guest mix form one man who really has blown 2013 into smithereens, Laidback Luke.
The Dutch DJ is truly a superstar of global dance music, his heady concoction of furious techno, rump shaking house and blistering electro a sure-fire winner across the planet. One place it always feels very much at home though is when coming full throttle out of the speakers of a Cream event, be it Liverpool, Ibiza or of course Creamfields. This month he headlines a stunning showcase at the nerve centre of the club, Nation, on Boxing Day.
Luke will be joined by Eddie Halliwell, Benny Benassi, Tim Mason, Deniz Kyou and a rare DJ set from Chicane (head here for more info), and if you were in need of a guaranteed way to blow that excess fat from Christmas it doesn't come much bigger and better than this.
As ever we also spotlighted five other nights form around the country to get your grind on this Christmas, ranging from Soloumn's deep house to Aly & Fila's trance, and even Alexander O'Neal's sultry soul. They are as follows:
North: Geestar Productions present Alexander O'Neal @ The Ritz Thursday 26th December
South: We are Junk @ Junk Club Saturday 21st December
London: Diynamic Showcase @ Electric Brixton Friday 27th December
Midlands: Gatecrasher Birmingham Boxing Day White Party
Scotland: Zoom Xmas Party @ The Arches Saturday 21st December
