Going out. It’s important. The very reason why Skiddle was founded was to unite people that love events. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that going out gives us normality, a chance to let go and connect with our community. But is it more than that?

Weekends Matter - The Finale: Gareth Emery (Digital Society)
Wednesday May 21, 2014
Wednesday May 21, 2014
We're changing our podcast. For over two years we've brought you fortnightly insights into what we feel is the very best in clubland, but as our Mixcloud series of mixes got more and more we will be making the podcast monthly and about all the types of events we do on Skiddle... keep an eye out for the new one when it launches in a couple of weeks.
We've still got time for one more of the existing format, so we've got together the very best of what's on offer this Bank Holiday weekend.
The top five includes the prison based madness at A-Wing, Derrick Carter bringing the house thump to Brighton, DJ EZ rocking it for eight hours in London, Ram Records' D&B brilliance in Birmingham and the opening party for Space in Ibiza - all worthy choices if you're still undecided about what to do this weekend.
The final main event we've bestowed the podcast upon though will be Digital Society, where Gareth Emery brings his Drive tour to the O2 Academy in Leeds on Sunday 25th May, and it's him in hte mix here.
There he'll be joined by Eddie Halliwell, Bryan Kearney, Craig Connelly and more. Head here for tickets.

Weekends Matter 56: Samuel Lamont (Cream Reunion)
Wednesday Jan 29, 2014
Wednesday Jan 29, 2014
This edition of Weekends Matter sees us looking back longingly to yesteryear. Between 1992 and 2002 Cream was, for many clubbers and DJs, the best club in the world and the legacy it holds lives long to this day. A weekly exercise in club culture at it's most far reaching, it featured the best DJs around and defined hedonism in the 90s, eventually spreading to Ibiza and the fields of the UK with the domineering festival Creamfields.
The brand itself is still one of the world's biggest, with huge Creamfields events across the planet and the club itself knocking out three barnstorming events in their Nation home every year alongside their huge Amnesia shows. The Cream Reunion was set up to celebrate that initial decade, and this podcast is helmed by Samuel Lamont, the DJ behind that event, with a stunning mix of classic pulsating trance.
Saturday 1st of February Lamont will be part of a fleet of DJs that hark back to the club's domineering era, including X-Press 2 (who we spoke to earlier in the week) and Guy Ornadel (and read our interview with him here). There's still some tickets left here for the party, and this mix is a chance to journey down memory lane for anyone who has a misty eyed memory of the club at that point.
As ever we've run down the top five regional events alongside the Cream reunion, these being as follows:
Monocult Seventh Birthday - Leeds
The Gallery resents Lange - Southampton
Gatecrasher present R3hab Third Birthday - Birmingham
Notsoslient's Dimensions festival Launch Party - Edinburgh
Elevate - London

Weekends Matter 51: Sander van Doorn (SW4 Sessions)
Tuesday Nov 05, 2013
Tuesday Nov 05, 2013
The Weekends Matter podcast has come through the door and it's a cracker once again. The final podcast before we celebrate two years of knocking them out comes courtesy of one of the biggest names in the business, the one and only Sander van Doorn.
The Dutch DJ will be the headline act at SW4 Sessions at Electric Brixton on Saturday 16th November, one of a select number of shows the world-beating festival does in club spaces with the starlets of the festival. It's Sander's first set in the capital since his stage owning performances at SW4, and this set will get you in the mood for his groove heavy take on trance, house and electro. Head here for further info on the event, where Jochen Miller supports Sander's deck acumen.

#41 - Eddie Halliwell (Cream Ibiza)
Wednesday Jun 19, 2013
Wednesday Jun 19, 2013
The Weekends Matter Podcast 41 is here and it’s helmed by a man who knows a thing or two about setting the world on fire, the one and only Eddie Halliwell. The man behind Fire it Up has held some of the most reputable residencies in dance music in his time, from Goodgreef to Gatecrasher, to the club for which this podcast centres on, Cream Ibiza. Eddie’s signature style of trance, techno, house and electro has been a winning combination for the club at their various events across the planet, with him a permanent component of Creamfields and a frequent player at their events in Liverpool, where this set was taken from in March. Eddie will be playing for Cream Ibiza for the first time tomorrow evening, with six more dates across the summer. We also look at the some other events this weekend, including Freeze presents Luciano and Friends, with mentions also to our Wickerman Warm Up, Ruckus in Middlesbrough, Sunset to Sunrise in Blackpool, The Hacienda reunion at the Coronet Theatre and Fantazia Superhereos in Bristol.

#38 - Goodgreef with Gareth Emery
Wednesday May 08, 2013
Wednesday May 08, 2013
This week’s episode allows the spotlight to fall on one of the modern superstars of trance, Gareth Emery. Since breaking into the electronic music consensus with his huge ‘Mistral’ track in 2002 under his GTR pseudonym, Emery has been one of the doyens of his scene. A fixture in DJMag’s Top 100 since 2006, peaking at number seven, he and his record label have at the forefront of establishing a patented template where the focus rests squarely on melody. Whilst his and the label’s sound will always be grounded in trance, his keen ear for a hook has seen that translate into progressive, electro and house textures, perfectly demonstrated on this mix. Garuda is set to release their third compilation next week, mixed by rising star Ben Gold, and both Emery and the imprint have been in the midst of a huge UK wide tour. That included an emotional farewell to Sankeys on Friday (the Garuda office is based in the same building), and culminates this weekend at two huge parties, Goodgreef on Friday and Godskitchen in Birmingham on Saturday. Tickets for both are on sale at Skiddle now.
