As we approach the tail end of what has already been a pretty special summer, August is beginning to rear it's head with an abundance of stellar events on the horizon. And that means it's time for us to run the gauntlet over the best of them with our podcast.
This time round there's a very definite influence of house music heroes Defected Records throughout the mix, opening with one of their summer smashes from Oliver $ in 'Pushin On' and then featuring a guest mix and interview from their very own Sam Divine, who hosts the Defected Radio series on Mixcloud.
She'll be playing when Defected in the House returns to Ministry of Sound on Saturday 9th August, alongside the irrepressible Masters at Work. The label is also in Ibiza this summer, taking over Booom every Tuesday.
Also on the show we've got music from John Legend, Scuba, Above & Beyond, Metro Area and much more, including a quick chat with our Ibiza correspondent Pete Gooding. You can find more details on all the events mentioned at the below links:
Pete Gooding plays Pop up Party's Ibiza Sunset party on Sunday 24th August.
Metro Area play LWE's Summer in the City on Saturday 9th August.
Above & Beyond headline SW4 on Saturday 23rd August.

We're changing our podcast. For over two years we've brought you fortnightly insights into what we feel is the very best in clubland, but as our Mixcloud series of mixes got more and more we will be making the podcast monthly and about all the types of events we do on Skiddle... keep an eye out for the new one when it launches in a couple of weeks.
We've still got time for one more of the existing format, so we've got together the very best of what's on offer this Bank Holiday weekend.
The top five includes the prison based madness at A-Wing, Derrick Carter bringing the house thump to Brighton, DJ EZ rocking it for eight hours in London, Ram Records' D&B brilliance in Birmingham and the opening party for Space in Ibiza - all worthy choices if you're still undecided about what to do this weekend.
The final main event we've bestowed the podcast upon though will be Digital Society, where Gareth Emery brings his Drive tour to the O2 Academy in Leeds on Sunday 25th May, and it's him in hte mix here.

The Guest mix from Kenny for the sixtieth edition of our Weekends matter podcast comes ahead of him playing for Twenty Twenty Two in Manchester over the Easter Weekend, contributing an anything goes set at the Manchester basement on Thursday 17th April.
While for many Dope will always be inextricably linked with house music, he first started as a hip hop DJ and his record collection is the stuff of legend. We've picked a mix of his showcasing him digging in the vaults to give you an indication of what to expect at Twenty Twenty Two when he touches down, over an Easter Weekend that also includes a Deep Shit label focus at the venue (read all about the parties here).
We've also showcased the five events around the Nation we think you should indulge in this Easter, and they are as follows:
March 19, 2014 @ 7:06 am
Sonny Wharton is Skiddle royalty. A firm favourite and friend of the business for an eterity, he's been with us at some of our key junctures over the past velkeven years as a DJ and supporter. A perennial choie for our sessions in the Bass Camp at the Wickerman Festival, he returns to Manchester to headline Bitch's March party at Venus on Saturday 29th March, our key event. Get your teeth into this full frontal mix of house, electro and techno to whet your appetite for that.

This edition of Weekends Matter sees us looking back longingly to yesteryear. Between 1992 and 2002 Cream was, for many clubbers and DJs, the best club in the world and the legacy it holds lives long to this day. A weekly exercise in club culture at it's most far reaching, it featured the best DJs around and defined hedonism in the 90s, eventually spreading to Ibiza and the fields of the UK with the domineering festival Creamfields.
The brand itself is still one of the world's biggest, with huge Creamfields events across the planet and the club itself knocking out three barnstorming events in their Nation home every year alongside their huge Amnesia shows. The Cream Reunion was set up to celebrate that initial decade, and this podcast is helmed by Samuel Lamont, the DJ behind that event, with a stunning mix of classic pulsating trance.
Saturday 1st of February Lamont will be part of a fleet of DJs that hark back to the club's domineering era, including X-Press 2 (who we spoke to earlier in the week) and Guy Ornadel (and read our interview with him here). There's still some tickets left here for the party, and this mix is a chance to journey down memory lane for anyone who has a misty eyed memory of the club at that point.
As ever we've run down the top five regional events alongside the Cream reunion, these being as follows:
Monocult Seventh Birthday - Leeds
The Gallery resents Lange - Southampton
Gatecrasher present R3hab Third Birthday - Birmingham
Notsoslient's Dimensions festival Launch Party - Edinburgh
Elevate - London
