#24 - Sound Control with DJ Yoda

In episode 24 we focus on a one of Manchester's finest clubs, Sound Control, along with a mix from the fabulous DJ Yoda

Duncan Beiny aka DJ Yoda is no ordinary scratch DJ. His seminal How To Cut & Paste series showcased a tongue-in-cheek mixing style that prompted Q Magazine to declare him “one of the ten DJs to see before you die”, whilst Hip Hop Connection voted him “one of the top three DJs in the world”.

Since his debut album ‘The Amazing Adventures Of DJ Yoda’, was released to critical acclaim in 2006, he has produced tracks with Biz Markie, 2005 MOBO-winner Sway, Princess Superstar, Jungle Brothers, MC Paul Barman, and a host of other vocalists.

Sound Control hosts DJ Yoda on Friday 19th October alongside with DJ Woody. Since opening nearly 3 years ago, Sound Control, has become first on the list of record labels and promoters to host live gigs and club nights for up & coming artists. A former music shop it has been transformed into a 3 floor 500 capacity venue in the heart of the student area of Manchester.

Podcast Special: Cream with Carl Cox

Cream’s phenomenal story began back in 1992 when it staged its first event in a small 400 capacity venue in the backstreets of Liverpool, few then would realise the success it would go on to achieve and 20 years on, through sheer ambition, Cream has gone on to change the face of clubbing and become the leading global player in electronic music festivals inspiring many of today’s visionaries along the way.

So its only fitting that the legendary Cream return to its spiritual home of Nation in Liverpool to celebrate this landmark occasion with two birthday bashes taking place on Saturday 6th and Saturday 13thOctober with a line up bigger than some festivals!

Skiddle would like to wish Cream all the best for it's 20th year anniversary, we've certainly enjoyed working with you with the 11 or so years that we've been in business - and definately enjoyed some of your mammoth parties along the way. To help celebrate here's a special guest mix from the main man himself, Carl Cox.
