Going out. It’s important. The very reason why Skiddle was founded was to unite people that love events. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that going out gives us normality, a chance to let go and connect with our community. But is it more than that?

Monday Feb 29, 2016
Monday Feb 29, 2016
Charlie Hedges is back with the third installment of our monthly podcast. As expected, she's delivered another show filled with the hottest quality house music from across the world, spotlighting some of our favourite DJs along the way.
The episode features music from the likes of Franky Rizardo, Doorly, Dale Howard (who provided the guest mix for Skiddle Podcast 002) and Riva Starr.
We've also spotlighted 99 Souls as our artist of the month following a giant year for them after the success of their mash up of Destiny's Child's 'Girl' and Brandy & Monica's 'The Boy Is Mine', which has had the remix treatment from Danny Howard and Chris Lorenzo to name just a few.
This podcast also features Graeme Park, who picked a seminal classic track for our feature ahead of the Hacienda Classical event at Lancaster's Williamsons Park. It's topped off with a guest mix from energetic, bass-heavy house lovers Tough Love, who are currently championing established and upcoming talent on their Get Twisted Records label.

Weekends Matter 54: Todd Terry (Hacienda)
Wednesday Dec 18, 2013
Wednesday Dec 18, 2013
We've had a good year here at Skiddle. The podcast series has seen mixes from Laidback Luke, Yousef, Delphic, Dave Seaman and Sander Van Doorn in 2013, alongside many others, and spotlighted the events we've felt you need to know about on a fortnightly basis. Alongside our podcast we started a Mixcloud series (follow us here) and we’re now 35 mixes deep, with offerings from Tom Flynn, Aly & Fila, Gilles Peterson and Marlon Hoffstadt and plenty more in there.
We’ve decided to celebrate this in our last two Podcasts of 2013, selecting two of our favourite mixes from the account to showcase the best New Year’s Eve parties and the festivals we’re already looking forward to in 2014. The latter podcast will be released on Monday 30th December with the festival focus, but for New Year’s Eve we’ve picked Todd Terry’s classic house mix we received in August to deliver for the 54th installment of the podcast (listen above).
Todd joins Frankie Knuckles and Marshall Jefferson at the Hacienda reunion alongside plenty more DJs as well – head here for the full run down of what to expect there. And, as ever, we’ve tallied up the other five nights worthy of your consideration this week, and they are as follows:
North: Detonate present Detour @ O2 Acadamy, Sheffield
South: In Motion NYE @ Motion Nightclub, Bristol
London: Magna Carta NYE @ The Coronet Theatre
Midlands: Seven Part Seven @ The Institute, Birmingham
Scotland: Wee Dub Hogmany @ The Caves, Edinburgh

Weekends Matter 53: Laidback Luke (Cream)
Thursday Dec 05, 2013
Thursday Dec 05, 2013
The first mix of our third year of podcast is here and what an absolute head rush it is. We've gone all Christmassy, but luckily that's raiding the best events that lurk just before and after the 25th December rather than an overload on Yuletide excess. And it also includes a guest mix form one man who really has blown 2013 into smithereens, Laidback Luke.
The Dutch DJ is truly a superstar of global dance music, his heady concoction of furious techno, rump shaking house and blistering electro a sure-fire winner across the planet. One place it always feels very much at home though is when coming full throttle out of the speakers of a Cream event, be it Liverpool, Ibiza or of course Creamfields. This month he headlines a stunning showcase at the nerve centre of the club, Nation, on Boxing Day.
Luke will be joined by Eddie Halliwell, Benny Benassi, Tim Mason, Deniz Kyou and a rare DJ set from Chicane (head here for more info), and if you were in need of a guaranteed way to blow that excess fat from Christmas it doesn't come much bigger and better than this.
As ever we also spotlighted five other nights form around the country to get your grind on this Christmas, ranging from Soloumn's deep house to Aly & Fila's trance, and even Alexander O'Neal's sultry soul. They are as follows:
North: Geestar Productions present Alexander O'Neal @ The Ritz Thursday 26th December
South: We are Junk @ Junk Club Saturday 21st December
London: Diynamic Showcase @ Electric Brixton Friday 27th December
Midlands: Gatecrasher Birmingham Boxing Day White Party
Scotland: Zoom Xmas Party @ The Arches Saturday 21st December

Weekends Matter 52: Dave Seaman (Selador)
Wednesday Nov 20, 2013
Wednesday Nov 20, 2013
Yay, we're two! Well Skiddle is actually a lot older than that but the Weekends Matter podcast has now clocked up two years of fortnightly doses of the best in clubland. We've had a wide range of DJs of all musical persuasions commanding the guest mix slot, with eclectic brilliance from Greg Wilson and Norman Jay, stadium crushing electro from Steve Aoki and The Japanese Popstars, house from Yousef and Groove Armada up to trance from Paul Oakenfold and the most recent incumbent, Sander Van Doorn.
Each one has been helmed by Funkademia's David Dunne, his dulcet tones describing our carefully handpicked clubbing selections for you. And now we've approached our 52nd episode, two years and a half century
The mix comes from one of the Icons of dance music as we know it, legendary DJ Dave Seaman (play it above). He made compilation history this year when he became the first DJ to ever fund a mix compilation via crowd sourcing, and has also seen a fresh approach to cutting edge house and techno emphasised by his brand new record label Selador, which you can read all about his here.
The label takes over Liverpool's much loved Rave in a Cave this weekend The Williamson Tunnels as part of 303 presents, Dave joined by the man he runs the label with Steve Parry - head here for all your info on that. We also selected the following top five events alongside the main offering:
London: Cocoon London @ Building Six - Saturday 30th November
North: 7 Years of Ketoloco @ The Mint Club - Friday 22nd November
South: Bedlam presents Rudimental @ The Brunel Rooms - Friday 29th November
Midlands: Seven Part Four w/ Laidback Luke @ The Institute - Friday 29th November
Scotland: Paradiso & Nu:gen Present Hard Rock sofa @ City Nightclub - Saturday 30th November

Weekends Matter 51: Sander van Doorn (SW4 Sessions)
Tuesday Nov 05, 2013
Tuesday Nov 05, 2013
The Weekends Matter podcast has come through the door and it's a cracker once again. The final podcast before we celebrate two years of knocking them out comes courtesy of one of the biggest names in the business, the one and only Sander van Doorn.
The Dutch DJ will be the headline act at SW4 Sessions at Electric Brixton on Saturday 16th November, one of a select number of shows the world-beating festival does in club spaces with the starlets of the festival. It's Sander's first set in the capital since his stage owning performances at SW4, and this set will get you in the mood for his groove heavy take on trance, house and electro. Head here for further info on the event, where Jochen Miller supports Sander's deck acumen.

weekends matter 46: Mike Vale (Space, Ibiza)
Wednesday Aug 28, 2013
Wednesday Aug 28, 2013
The white isle. It’s the stuff of dreams, a place where the magic happens each and every summer with a high octane blend of hedonism and thumping electronic grooves has been seducing dance music lovers for decades. Whether you lose yourself in the reach for the lasers hedonism of the trance at Cream, the slow and sexual grooves of DC10’s underground house or the multi-faceted sounds of We Love… Space, Ibiza has it all for anyone who loves music.
With this in mind we’ve dedicated our podcast not to any one individual event this time round, but instead just given you a flavour of the best parties and clubs on the island you can still nab tickets for before the season shuts up shop for another year in early October. We’ve also grabbed a recent mix from someone you will be hearing a lot of in the future to showcase a flavour of the sound on offer, with Mike Vale delivering a techno workout which was his recent live recording when he played Space recently – he returns on Monday 9th September.
So turn up the speakers and let the pounding Balearic beats soothe you as we offer you a slice of the world’s still undoubted party capital.
