Going out. It’s important. The very reason why Skiddle was founded was to unite people that love events. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that going out gives us normality, a chance to let go and connect with our community. But is it more than that?

S3 Ep1 - Yousef
Monday May 24, 2021
Monday May 24, 2021
We’re back. It’s series 3 and times have already changed since our last episode with the further lift in restrictions, allowing mixing indoors, indoor hospitality, and live entertainment… If you’ve been hiding under a rock (no judgement from us btw) then you might not have heard about the recent government pilot events in Liverpool, and two of these dates were organised by DJ, promoter, producer and record label owner, Yousef. This is why our first episode for series 3 of The Going Out Podcast, had to be with him.
We started the conversation by talking about Yousef’s time growing up in Crosby and his first going out experiences in the area and then into Liverpool (does ‘The G’ mean anything to you?). Our conversations led us to chat about the iconic CREAM night at Nation where Yousef shared tales from the crowd and DJ decks, and then of course, his own night; CIRCUS.
We loved this conversation for many reasons, the main one being the conversation being so uplifting and positive after a strange 18 months in the music and events scene. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

weekends matter 46: Mike Vale (Space, Ibiza)
Wednesday Aug 28, 2013
Wednesday Aug 28, 2013
The white isle. It’s the stuff of dreams, a place where the magic happens each and every summer with a high octane blend of hedonism and thumping electronic grooves has been seducing dance music lovers for decades. Whether you lose yourself in the reach for the lasers hedonism of the trance at Cream, the slow and sexual grooves of DC10’s underground house or the multi-faceted sounds of We Love… Space, Ibiza has it all for anyone who loves music.
With this in mind we’ve dedicated our podcast not to any one individual event this time round, but instead just given you a flavour of the best parties and clubs on the island you can still nab tickets for before the season shuts up shop for another year in early October. We’ve also grabbed a recent mix from someone you will be hearing a lot of in the future to showcase a flavour of the sound on offer, with Mike Vale delivering a techno workout which was his recent live recording when he played Space recently – he returns on Monday 9th September.
So turn up the speakers and let the pounding Balearic beats soothe you as we offer you a slice of the world’s still undoubted party capital.

The Weekends Matter Podcast 41 is here and it’s helmed by a man who knows a thing or two about setting the world on fire, the one and only Eddie Halliwell. Eddie’s signature style of trance, techno, house and electro has been a winning combination for the club at their various events across the planet, with him a permanent component of Creamfields and a frequent player at their events in Liverpool, where this set was taken from in March. Eddie will be playing for Cream Ibiza for the first time tomorrow evening, with six more dates across the summer. We also look at the some other events this weekend, including Freeze presents Luciano and Friends, with mentions also to our Wickerman Warm Up, Ruckus in Middlesbrough, Sunset to Sunrise in Blackpool, The Hacienda reunion at the Coronet Theatre and Fantazia Superhereos in Bristol.

Episode 35 of the Skiddle.com Weekends Matter podcast is now available for your listening pleasure
In this episode we focus on Sankeys in Manchester and one of its resident DJs, Jozef K.
Sankeys first opened its doors in 1994 as Sankeys Soap, named after the building it is housed in that used to manufacture soap. Over the past 19 years it has hosted nights featuring household names such as Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and Moby but has also helped to break underground DJs into the mainstream. In 2010 it was named number one club in the world by DJ Mag and this spurred owner Dave Vincent into creating '7 Sankeys of the World. The first two are Manchester and Ibiza.
One of the current resident DJ's is Jozef K and he has provided this weeks podcast mix. He has begun to build a glowing profile in such a short time which includes his own productions, remixes and a string of DJ dates. Aged just 23, Jozef K has quietly been crafting a name for himself, as one of Sankeys' lynchpins as well as playing at Croatia's Dimensions festival, Ibiza, Berlin and Moscow this year. Following on from his early well-received releases on Kaluki Musik, Jozef has been signed to Adam Shelton's revered One Records and has a forthcoming EP on Sasha's label Last Night on Earth.
