Going out. It’s important. The very reason why Skiddle was founded was to unite people that love events. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that going out gives us normality, a chance to let go and connect with our community. But is it more than that?

Wilson also gives us a guest mix, a recording from his recent set at the first of his Summer Sessions parties at Freeze, the second of which sees him at St Lukes, aka the Bombed Out Church, in Liverpool on Saturday July 12th.
Greg also discusses his latest mixtape release (you can listen to it and read our review here), and remember we spoke to him recently in great detail about his summer - head here to read that.

Weekends Matter - The Finale: Gareth Emery (Digital Society)
Wednesday May 21, 2014
Wednesday May 21, 2014
We're changing our podcast. For over two years we've brought you fortnightly insights into what we feel is the very best in clubland, but as our Mixcloud series of mixes got more and more we will be making the podcast monthly and about all the types of events we do on Skiddle... keep an eye out for the new one when it launches in a couple of weeks.
We've still got time for one more of the existing format, so we've got together the very best of what's on offer this Bank Holiday weekend.
The top five includes the prison based madness at A-Wing, Derrick Carter bringing the house thump to Brighton, DJ EZ rocking it for eight hours in London, Ram Records' D&B brilliance in Birmingham and the opening party for Space in Ibiza - all worthy choices if you're still undecided about what to do this weekend.
The final main event we've bestowed the podcast upon though will be Digital Society, where Gareth Emery brings his Drive tour to the O2 Academy in Leeds on Sunday 25th May, and it's him in hte mix here.
There he'll be joined by Eddie Halliwell, Bryan Kearney, Craig Connelly and more. Head here for tickets.

Weekends Matter 56: Samuel Lamont (Cream Reunion)
Wednesday Jan 29, 2014
Wednesday Jan 29, 2014
This edition of Weekends Matter sees us looking back longingly to yesteryear. Between 1992 and 2002 Cream was, for many clubbers and DJs, the best club in the world and the legacy it holds lives long to this day. A weekly exercise in club culture at it's most far reaching, it featured the best DJs around and defined hedonism in the 90s, eventually spreading to Ibiza and the fields of the UK with the domineering festival Creamfields.
The brand itself is still one of the world's biggest, with huge Creamfields events across the planet and the club itself knocking out three barnstorming events in their Nation home every year alongside their huge Amnesia shows. The Cream Reunion was set up to celebrate that initial decade, and this podcast is helmed by Samuel Lamont, the DJ behind that event, with a stunning mix of classic pulsating trance.
Saturday 1st of February Lamont will be part of a fleet of DJs that hark back to the club's domineering era, including X-Press 2 (who we spoke to earlier in the week) and Guy Ornadel (and read our interview with him here). There's still some tickets left here for the party, and this mix is a chance to journey down memory lane for anyone who has a misty eyed memory of the club at that point.
As ever we've run down the top five regional events alongside the Cream reunion, these being as follows:
Monocult Seventh Birthday - Leeds
The Gallery resents Lange - Southampton
Gatecrasher present R3hab Third Birthday - Birmingham
Notsoslient's Dimensions festival Launch Party - Edinburgh
Elevate - London

Weekends Matter 54: Todd Terry (Hacienda)
Wednesday Dec 18, 2013
Wednesday Dec 18, 2013
We've had a good year here at Skiddle. The podcast series has seen mixes from Laidback Luke, Yousef, Delphic, Dave Seaman and Sander Van Doorn in 2013, alongside many others, and spotlighted the events we've felt you need to know about on a fortnightly basis. Alongside our podcast we started a Mixcloud series (follow us here) and we’re now 35 mixes deep, with offerings from Tom Flynn, Aly & Fila, Gilles Peterson and Marlon Hoffstadt and plenty more in there.
We’ve decided to celebrate this in our last two Podcasts of 2013, selecting two of our favourite mixes from the account to showcase the best New Year’s Eve parties and the festivals we’re already looking forward to in 2014. The latter podcast will be released on Monday 30th December with the festival focus, but for New Year’s Eve we’ve picked Todd Terry’s classic house mix we received in August to deliver for the 54th installment of the podcast (listen above).
Todd joins Frankie Knuckles and Marshall Jefferson at the Hacienda reunion alongside plenty more DJs as well – head here for the full run down of what to expect there. And, as ever, we’ve tallied up the other five nights worthy of your consideration this week, and they are as follows:
North: Detonate present Detour @ O2 Acadamy, Sheffield
South: In Motion NYE @ Motion Nightclub, Bristol
London: Magna Carta NYE @ The Coronet Theatre
Midlands: Seven Part Seven @ The Institute, Birmingham
Scotland: Wee Dub Hogmany @ The Caves, Edinburgh

Weekends Matter 52: Dave Seaman (Selador)
Wednesday Nov 20, 2013
Wednesday Nov 20, 2013
Yay, we're two! Well Skiddle is actually a lot older than that but the Weekends Matter podcast has now clocked up two years of fortnightly doses of the best in clubland. We've had a wide range of DJs of all musical persuasions commanding the guest mix slot, with eclectic brilliance from Greg Wilson and Norman Jay, stadium crushing electro from Steve Aoki and The Japanese Popstars, house from Yousef and Groove Armada up to trance from Paul Oakenfold and the most recent incumbent, Sander Van Doorn.
Each one has been helmed by Funkademia's David Dunne, his dulcet tones describing our carefully handpicked clubbing selections for you. And now we've approached our 52nd episode, two years and a half century
The mix comes from one of the Icons of dance music as we know it, legendary DJ Dave Seaman (play it above). He made compilation history this year when he became the first DJ to ever fund a mix compilation via crowd sourcing, and has also seen a fresh approach to cutting edge house and techno emphasised by his brand new record label Selador, which you can read all about his here.
The label takes over Liverpool's much loved Rave in a Cave this weekend The Williamson Tunnels as part of 303 presents, Dave joined by the man he runs the label with Steve Parry - head here for all your info on that. We also selected the following top five events alongside the main offering:
London: Cocoon London @ Building Six - Saturday 30th November
North: 7 Years of Ketoloco @ The Mint Club - Friday 22nd November
South: Bedlam presents Rudimental @ The Brunel Rooms - Friday 29th November
Midlands: Seven Part Four w/ Laidback Luke @ The Institute - Friday 29th November
Scotland: Paradiso & Nu:gen Present Hard Rock sofa @ City Nightclub - Saturday 30th November

Weekends Matter 51: Sander van Doorn (SW4 Sessions)
Tuesday Nov 05, 2013
Tuesday Nov 05, 2013
The Weekends Matter podcast has come through the door and it's a cracker once again. The final podcast before we celebrate two years of knocking them out comes courtesy of one of the biggest names in the business, the one and only Sander van Doorn.
The Dutch DJ will be the headline act at SW4 Sessions at Electric Brixton on Saturday 16th November, one of a select number of shows the world-beating festival does in club spaces with the starlets of the festival. It's Sander's first set in the capital since his stage owning performances at SW4, and this set will get you in the mood for his groove heavy take on trance, house and electro. Head here for further info on the event, where Jochen Miller supports Sander's deck acumen.

#41 - Eddie Halliwell (Cream Ibiza)
Wednesday Jun 19, 2013
Wednesday Jun 19, 2013
The Weekends Matter Podcast 41 is here and it’s helmed by a man who knows a thing or two about setting the world on fire, the one and only Eddie Halliwell. The man behind Fire it Up has held some of the most reputable residencies in dance music in his time, from Goodgreef to Gatecrasher, to the club for which this podcast centres on, Cream Ibiza. Eddie’s signature style of trance, techno, house and electro has been a winning combination for the club at their various events across the planet, with him a permanent component of Creamfields and a frequent player at their events in Liverpool, where this set was taken from in March. Eddie will be playing for Cream Ibiza for the first time tomorrow evening, with six more dates across the summer. We also look at the some other events this weekend, including Freeze presents Luciano and Friends, with mentions also to our Wickerman Warm Up, Ruckus in Middlesbrough, Sunset to Sunrise in Blackpool, The Hacienda reunion at the Coronet Theatre and Fantazia Superhereos in Bristol.

#40 - Pete Herbert (Electric Elephant)
Wednesday Jun 05, 2013
Wednesday Jun 05, 2013
The podcast this time round comes from the sun drenched beaches and azure skies of the Adriatic coast, as ahead of the Electric Elephant in July Pete Herbert delivers a mix. Herbert’s quirkiness as both a producer and selector has seen him develop a reputation as a leftfield institution, blurring the lines between house, disco, italo dub and funk. This mix sees him elevate that lofty status further. The Electric Elephant runs from 11th to the 15th July, taking place in the gorgeous confines of the Garden site in Tisno. Spread across two locations, the Beach Bar and the Main Stage, there’s also a late night club Barbarellas that provides an inspirational al fresco clubbing experience. And that’s not to mention the sea of boat parties aboard the infamous Argonaughty vessel that accompany the programme. The podcast also rounds up the top five events this weekend as well, with nods to the huge Rockness festival, the Playground soiree in London, The Trance Together Second anniversary, Face’s One Records showcase and last but by no means least, Back to Basics bringing Chicago resident Derrick Carter back to Leeds.
