Norman Jay first set up the now legendary Good Times Soundsystem back in 1981 - leading to a 32 year residency at Notting Hill Carnival. He became a key DJ during the ‘80s London rare groove scene, hosting a series of legendary clubs – Shake ‘N’ Fingerpop, High On Hope (inspired by New York’s Paradise Garage) and famed sessions at London’s Bass Clef (later the Blue Note) - all of which built his reputation for open-minded, soulful selections spanning soul, funk, disco, early house, reggae and hip hop. The past three decades have seen Norman Jay's career go from strength to strength, and now he travels the globe, spreading the Good Times far and wide.
2022nq opened in April this year and has already created waves in the underground scene. A basement space in the Northern Quarter of Manchester it's a hybrid gallery and music venue that has already hosted DJ sets from Disclosure, Horse Meat Disco and Justin Robertson. Supporting Norman will be Manchester's own disco destroyer Will TRAMP! - known to many for his DJ sets at Warehouse Project, Parklife and Homoelectric.
