Going out. It’s important. The very reason why Skiddle was founded was to unite people that love events. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that going out gives us normality, a chance to let go and connect with our community. But is it more than that?

It's a good month for new music in the world of Skiddle podcasts. Alongside all our usual features, we've got fresh tracks from the likes of Patrick Topping, Sonny Fodera and Tough Love, all rounded off with a huge guest mix. As always, our podcast host Charlie Hedges and ourselves have handpicked some of the best new tunes, whilst spotlighting artists who are making waves in the world of electronic music. Here's the rundown for 008...
VIVa MUSiC and Warriors boss Steve Lawler rightfully takes our Spotlight - Artist Of The Month slot, a nod to his dedication as a label head honcho as his imprint approaches its 10th birthday. We asked Lawler all about Warriors at Sankeys Ibiza plus his upcoming plans for ViVA.
Blonde were on hand for this instalment to select a classic house track for our From The Vault feature, and it couldn't be more suitable for the slight bits of summer weather we're getting the UK. They also filled us in with their festival highlights and summer plans.
This episode is brought to a close with a rumbling house mix from DJ S.K.T. The production wizz is still flying high from the release of his track 'Poison' and is currently flitting from dream gig to dream gig, stopping off in Ibiza and various UK festivals.

This month's edition of the Weekends Matter podcast has a Balearic tint as we look ahead to what is coming this Ibiza season. There's a few sneak previews of what to expect this summer with anthems past and present alongside a guest mix from Intec head honcho Jon Rundell.
Rundell's powerhouse house and techno will be a fixture at a variety of parties this summer, notably new showcase Love The Underground and Carl Cox's Music is Revolution - appearing at the big man's birthday for that.
Before we get to the nitty gritty of Rundell's grooves there's an all time Ibiza classic from Jay Dee, new g-house from Sankeys darlings Cuff, the sound of Amnesia's main events with Music ON and Cream represented and then a curveball from Spandau Ballet, who play live at Ibiza Rocks in August.

The Guest mix from Kenny for the sixtieth edition of our Weekends matter podcast comes ahead of him playing for Twenty Twenty Two in Manchester over the Easter Weekend, contributing an anything goes set at the Manchester basement on Thursday 17th April.
While for many Dope will always be inextricably linked with house music, he first started as a hip hop DJ and his record collection is the stuff of legend. We've picked a mix of his showcasing him digging in the vaults to give you an indication of what to expect at Twenty Twenty Two when he touches down, over an Easter Weekend that also includes a Deep Shit label focus at the venue (read all about the parties here).
We've also showcased the five events around the Nation we think you should indulge in this Easter, and they are as follows:

10 Years of the Rainbow Venues - Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th April in Birmingham
Cream and Composit present Chuckie & Friends - Sunday 20th April in Manchester

Weekends matter 47: Felix Leiter (Mint Festival / Bitch)
Thursday Sep 12, 2013
Thursday Sep 12, 2013
Festivals may have been drifting towards the past tense recently but we’re giving them one final hurrah, and this week’s podcast reverberates to one of the best still left to do, Mint Festival. Located in the rather swish Lotherham Hall in Leeds, this year’s sees headline turns from Marco Carola, Seth Troxler, Ferry Corsten and plenty more in a complete smorgasbord of electronic music. We’ve been quite excited about the festival all summer, so you can read the words we’ve already wrote in their honour right here.
This mix comes from Felix Leiter, resident of Elektiqua in Newcastle and a star who continues to ascend in the world of electronic music. He’s playing as part of the Bitch arena (check our rundown of that part of the festival here) where he’ll be joined by the likes of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Nervo, Danny Howard and plenty more. Bitch themselves also turn seven later in the month, head here to read all about that, and this mix is crammed with the type of groove led abandon that has made the party so revered during that tenure.
As well as the Mint Festival we also run down the top five we’re looking forward to over the next fortnight, and these being as follows:
Underground & Friends – Saturday 14th September @ Gorilla, Manchester
Brunel Rooms presents Zinc & Hostage – Saturday 14th September @ Brunel Rooms, Swindon
Trance Sanctuary – Saturday 14th September @ Egg London
Basics - Saturday 14th September @ The Garage, Leeds
Freeze presents Innervisions – Saturday 21st September @ Haus Warehouse, Liverpool

#45 - Autocycle (Freeze & Waxxx)
Thursday Aug 15, 2013
Thursday Aug 15, 2013
The summer’s slowly but surely coming to an end, but there’s always one last hurrah – the august Bank Holiday Weekend. There’s longer weekends but this is definitely the most important, simply because it’s the last time in a while you’re going to be given a legitimate three day weekend that, fingers crossed, should be sunny. You need to indulge yourselves.
We know this, so our Weekends Matter podcast is focused entirely this time round on arguably the best weekend of them all. We’ve picked out our top five events as per usual, and they circumnavigate the full spectrum of the dancefloor caveat.
There’s the thrusting sonics of Artist of the Week Steve Angello and his record label showcase Size in the Park, classic house from Todd Terry at the Hard Times 20th Birthday in Leeds, Musika collab with James Zabiela and his Born Electric promotion, mUmU’s Day & Night showcase in Liverpool and then last, but by no means least, Leeds’ final Faversham Garden Party of the year. It’s getting us all a little hot under the collar just thinking about them.
The mix though comes from our preferred choice this time round, Freeze in Liverpool. The clubnight has been one of the success stories of the year with their unconventional approach to venue choices for their parties, and even though they’re in a club this time round they’re doing a day and night party at Haus Warehouse in the city, with a music policy that reflects the lighter side of house and disco in the day before cranking up the energy once the sun sets.
We picked elusive disco duo Autocycle to drop the mix, their funk laced take on house and disco perfectly representative of the daytime grooves that go hand in hand with the event. We spoke to them earlier in the year which you can check here, but other than that just enjoy the mix.

#44 - Steve Aoki (Creamfields)
Wednesday Jul 31, 2013
Wednesday Jul 31, 2013
For what seems like an eternity there's been a constant in our lives come the end of the British Summer - Creamfields. The Bank Holiday festival has always been the cornerstone of every dance music fan's calender and the success of the gathering continues to gather apace - it's currently on target to sell out for the sixth consecutive year. 2013 has seen the announcement of some pretty spectacular news surrounding the new production put into the main stage, so in honor of that we decided to get a mix form a DJ who understand the full force of the intensity Creamfields represents - Steve Aoki.
